ANTI-RAGGING INFORMATION

Shri Swami Samarth Institute of Management and Technology, Malwadi Bota strictly prohibits ragging in any form within or outside the campus premises. The Institute follows the regulations framed by the All India Council for Technical Education and the University Grants Commission. Any student found indulging in ragging shall face strict disciplinary and legal action as per prevailing rules.(A) For Senior Students
- Senior students must ensure that they do not engage in any form of ragging activity inside or outside the campus.
- Strict action as per AICTE/UGC Anti-Ragging Regulations will be taken against any student found involved in ragging.
- All senior students and their Parents/Guardians must submit online Anti-Ragging Affidavits on:

- www.amanmovement.org
- The affidavit must be submitted along with the admission / fee payment form.
- Students who fail to submit the affidavits will not be granted admission in the Institute.
(B) For Fresher Students
- Freshers can contact any Anti-Ragging Committee Member, Squad Member, or the Principal if they face ragging.
- Freshers must not follow any instruction from seniors against their will.
- Any ragging incident should be reported immediately to:

- The Institute will take strict disciplinary action against the student involved.
- Freshers should not fear retaliation and must not tolerate harassment.

STAND ON RAGGING

Shri Swami Samarth Institute of Management and Technology, Malwadi Bota, being a reputed institution committed to quality education and overall student development, firmly stands against the social evil of ragging. The Institute pledges to maintain a “Zero Ragging Campus”, ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students. Ragging is not only a serious social evil prevalent in higher educational institutions but also a cognizable offence under the law. The Institute upholds the principles of equality, human dignity, and respect for human rights, thereby guaranteeing a secure atmosphere conducive to learning and professional growth. In strict compliance with the directions of the Supreme Court of India, Government of Maharashtra, All India Council for Technical Education, University Grants Commission, and Savitribai Phule Pune University, the Institute has implemented the following measures to effectively prevent and curb ragging:Measures Taken to Prevent Ragging
1. Constitution of Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad
- The Institute has constituted an Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad as per UGC Regulations.
- The Anti-Ragging Committee ensures strict compliance with UGC Anti-Ragging Regulations and relevant laws.
- The Committee monitors the performance of the Anti-Ragging Squad.
- The Committee promptly conducts enquiries into any reported incident as per UGC Regulations.
2. Role of Anti-Ragging Squad
- The Squad conducts surprise inspections and raids in hostels and vulnerable areas of the campus.
- It can conduct on-the-spot enquiries into incidents reported by faculty, staff, students, parents, or any concerned person.
- The enquiry report with recommendations is submitted to the Anti-Ragging Committee for further action.
3. Display of Important Information
The contact numbers of the Anti-Ragging Helpline and key authorities—including the Head of the Institution, faculty members, members of the Anti-Ragging Committee and Squad, and hostel authorities—are prominently displayed on the Institute and hostel notice boards and are also published on the official website. The Institute strictly enforces anti-ragging regulations and ensures that any act of ragging will attract severe disciplinary and legal action as per prevailing rules and regulations.

UGC Regulations
SUMMARY OF UGC REGULATIONS ON CURBING THE MENACE OF RAGGING IN HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, 2009
1. Preamble
In view of the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court dated 8.05.2009 and in consideration of the determination of the Central Government and the University Grants Commission to prohibit, prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging.2. Objective
To eliminate ragging in all its forms from universities, deemed universities and other higher educational institutions in the country by prohibiting it under these regulations, preventing its occurrence and punishing those who indulge in ragging as provided for in these regulations and the appropriate law in force.3. What Constitutes Ragging
Ragging constitutes one or more of the following acts:- Any conduct by students through spoken or written words or actions that tease or treat a fresher with rudeness.
- Rowdy or indisciplined activities causing annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm, or fear among fresher students.
- Asking a student to do acts that cause shame, embarrassment, or psychological distress.
- Any act by senior students that disrupts or disturbs the academic activities of fresher students.
- Exploiting the services of a fresher to complete academic tasks assigned to another student or group.
- Financial extortion or forcing fresher students to bear unnecessary expenses.
- Physical abuse including sexual abuse, assault, forcing obscene acts, or causing bodily harm.
- Verbal abuse, insults, or humiliation through spoken words, emails, posts, or public statements.
- Any act affecting the mental health or self-confidence of fresher students, whether intentional or not.
